Description: This course is at least 8 hours long and includes both classroom and range time. Students learn to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. This course is more advanced than the First Steps Pistol Orientation course.  Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, and standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive NRA materials.  Upon passing the Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, a course completion certificate is issued.  This course meets the concealed carry safety permit requirement for the State of Virginia.
